Nuts are increasingly used in plant-based applications: they can be used to replace cow’s milk but also to bring great taste, texture and nutrition to the final product. Almond is now the number 1 milk alternative in plant-based beverages, representing more than $1bn in sales in the US alone (source 1). Hazelnut and cashew are also increasingly popular. 

The Western European non-dairy market is expected to keep being extremely dynamic (Source 2)

NPD strategy: Taste first

Taste is the key purchase driver for consumers. Nuts enable brands to enter the plant-based market with indulgent products that can be catering to everyone: consumers on a vegan diet or not.
