Many industries are fully into mass personalization
Already years ago the car industry chose the route of personalization. Although the chances to find something that suits exactly your needs in the fashion industry are massive, some brands take it even a step further allowing you to exactly design your shoes, definitely at a premium.
The food industry has embraced personalization too
Some chocolate brands have experienced successfully with personalization. They offer online services allowing you to make your own tablet or jar. This is about personalizing the pack, not so much about personalizing the content itself. Some recent technological breakthrough innovations are now allowing to mass-personalize chocolates, bakes and ice cream with real chocolate.
Barry Callebaut takes chocolate personalization to the next level
Barry Callebaut has developed a real chocolate solution to print with a food 2D+ printer, at industrial speed, onto foods like chocolates, bakes and ice cream. We have created this solution in collaboration with Foodjet. The printer, aka Lisa is connected to a computer, the products Lisa makes are A(rtificial) I(ntelligence).
Performance
The resolution that can be achieved is 1 mm accuracy at a speed of 15-20 meter per minute.
