By moving our portfolio towards becoming fully sustainable, we are committed to positive nutrition, continuing a critical part of the Barry Callebaut brand vision: Tasty, Good For Me, Good For The Planet. Barry Callebaut’s ‘Better For You’ portfolio includes, but is not limited to: sugar solutions (sugar free, reduced sugar, no sugar added), high protein, dairy-free, and organic solutions. Our ‘Better For You’ portfolio can be found here.
All ‘Better For You’ products will be moving to Cocoa Horizons verified through the Cocoa Horizons Foundation. Other popular cocoa sustainability certification programs continue to be available. Additionally, the 'Better for You' products will be supporting sustainable vanilla production in Madagascar.

What is Cocoa Horizons?
Sustainable HORIZONS cocoa and chocolate products are sold by Barry Callebaut with a premium used to help improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities. These premiums go to the Cocoa Horizons Foundation to fund cocoa sustainability activities such as farmer coaching and support; cocoa and non-cocoa seedling distribution; and community development, in a transparent and externally verified process. The Cocoa Horizons Foundation serves as a platform for chocolate companies and other contributors to invest in sustainable cocoa. It relies on expert partners like Barry Callebaut to implement the sustainability activities.
On the ground, Barry Callebaut’s sustainability team works with cooperatives and its own direct sourcing and farm services organizations to implement these activities for the benefit of registered farmers and farmer groups. Cocoa produced by farmers involved in these activities are sold as Barry Callebaut’s sustainable HORIZONS cocoa and chocolate products.
What is the Sustainable Vanilla Charter?
The Sustainable Vanilla Charter covers twelve impact-driven principles of driving a sustainable vanilla supply chain including activities that support income diversification and farmers' resilience, vanilla productivity and quality, and environmental and community engagement. The program is third-party audited annually.

Customers of the Barry Callebaut brand's ‘Better For You’ portfolio now purchasing Cocoa Horizons products will receive full access to the Cocoa Chronicles, which offer invaluable sustainability story-telling support. A publicly available peek into the Cocoa Chronicles is available online!
In order to help customers drive consumer demand for sustainable cocoa, an innovative set of narratives has been developed, the “Cocoa Chronicles," which are driven by consumer benefits. These will enable customers of the HORIZONS products to leverage sustainability initiatives through their brands.
Bringing to life the complex world of sustainability in a meaningful and engaging way is a challenging but important task in driving a brand’s purpose and positioning. In order to add value for the HORIZONS customers, an extensive consumer and market research was gathered to build a robust catalogue of stories, satisfying the wide variety of customer targets. Each narrative is coupled with on-the-ground proof points, from facts and stats to farmer quotes and testimonials. Inspiration for ways in which customers can bring stories to life is also provided.
