According to Project Drawdown, the global leader in ranking climate solutions, preventing food waste is the single most effective solution to prevent global warming. If the emissions related to food waste were aggregated like for a country, food waste would be the third-largest contributor of greenhouse gases right after the US and China.
The Upcycled Food Association (UFA) is a non-profit organization that is committed to reducing food waste by developing the upcycled food economy through research, strategy, networking, and policy advocacy.
Upcycled foods are described by the UFA as products made with ingredients that otherwise would not have made it to human consumption, are sourced and produced using verifiable supply chains, and have a positive impact on the planet. The Upcycled Certification Program is the world’s first third-party certification program for upcycled food ingredients and products. The certification guides consumers on which products are upcycled and allows them to prevent food waste with every purchase they make.

CaPao, a snack brand created by Mondelēz International’s SnackFutures, is the first to communicate ‘Upcycled Certified’ on pack in partnership with Cabosse Naturals!
CaPao is a plant-powered bite made from upcycled cacaofruit. The zesty fruity pulp is combined with nuts, seeds, and other fruits to create delicious and healthy snacks.
