Supporting education

In the area of education, we contribute to school infrastructure, promote a cocoa curriculum, raise awareness of child labor issues, and foster women’s empowerment through skills training. In the past fiscal year, 3,590 children and adults benefited from our education initiatives.

Educational infrastructure

In Côte d’Ivoire, we recently constructed two primary schools in the villages of Affery and Blolequin that brought the total across Côte d’Ivoire to 36 classrooms at 10 rural primary schools, enabling 1,800 children to attend school.

We built a secondary school in Akoupé in 2009 and recently inaugurated an additional 4 classrooms, a science lab and teacher’s office. Total enrollment is now at 1,150.

Women’s empowerment

In partnership with a local NGO in Côte d’Ivoire, we trained 140 women in two communities in food production and poultry rearing as income generation options. Through our subsidiary Biopartenaire, we conducted an innovative three-week training program in agroforestry for 15 female cocoa farmers.
