Barry Callebaut’s sustainable soy lecithin is sourced via ProTerra which ensures a sustainable and GMO free source of soy for use in our final products. ProTerra is the industry leader in certified sustainable soy cultivation, mainly sourced from Brazil.

ProTerra non-GMO certified soy products tackle key agricultural issues, such as environmental impact, safe labor conditions, forced labor, traceability to plantation level, land use change and biodiversity loss. Additionally, issues specific to soy farming in Brazil are addressed, such as the displacement of indigenous populations due to the expansion of soy plantations.

We are supporting innovative approaches to deliver deforestation-free soy to our dairy supply chains, and implement new financial mechanisms to eliminate deforestation from soy in Brazil. We are working with SAI’s Dairy Working Group to develop a  deforestation free soy feed supply chain from Brazil to Europe within our dairy supply.
