Barry Callebaut AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality cocoa and chocolate products, announced today its results for the first nine months of fiscal year 2005/06 ended May 31, 2006. Operating profit (EBIT) advanced by 14.6% to CHF 215.6 million for the current fiscal year, up from CHF 188.1 million in the prior year. EBIT per tonne, the key indicator for operational performance, was CHF 272.5, up 14.4%. Net profit (PAT) went up by 23.8% to CHF 126.0 million (prior-year period: CHF 101.8 million).
Laying of foundation stone for factory in Russia: Barry Callebaut is building a new CHF 25 million chocolate factory near Moscow

Barry Callebaut, the world’s leading manufacturer of cocoa and chocolate products, today laid the foundation stone for its new state-of-the-art chocolate factory located at 60 km from Moscow in Chekhov, Russia, during a special ceremony with local dignitaries. The new factory is scheduled to become operational at the beginning of 2007. The total investment is about CHF 25 million (EUR 17 million). The production facility will have a capacity of more than 25,000 tonnes and employ about 70 people once it is running at full capacity.

Barry Callebaut, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality cocoa and chocolate products, announced today its half-year results for the period ended February 28, 2006. Operating profit (EBIT) strongly increased by 10.8% to CHF 177.0 million and net profit (PAT) grew by 11.3% to CHF 112.7 million. EBIT per tonne, the key indicator for operational performance, went up by 12.4% to CHF 320 per tonne, up from CHF 285 per tonne in the same prior-year period. All business units contributed positively to the increase of this ratio.

HRH the King today honoured the Barry Callebaut factory in Wieze with a visit. The factory in Wieze is an important branch of the international Barry Callebaut group and the world's largest chocolate factory.
