Stollwerck
Stollwerck GmbH, headquartered in Cologne, is a leading German manufacturer of chocolate products such as chocolate tablets, boxed assortments, truffles as well as small bites and chocolate bars. The company’s history goes back to 1839, when Frank Stollwerck began making cough drops. Around 1860 he diversified – to use today’s language – the production activities by adding chocolate and marzipan.
Stollwerck GmbH also manages the Swiss chocolate company, Chocolat Alprose, and the Belgian chocolate maker, Jacques Chocolaterie.
Customer label products make up more than half of total sales, with the remainder generated from the sale of branded products. A new and rapidly growing business proposition is the co-manufacturing of products for branded consumer goods companies.
The brand portfolio includes three major brands: Sarotti, the umbrella brand for the German market; Jacques, the Belgian chocolate brand; and Alprose for chocolate ‘made in Switzerland’.
