Quality management certifications


All of our manufacturing sites are audited on an annual basis by accredited certification organizations against one of the industry-recognized and benchmarked food safety and quality standards according to the Global Food Safety Initiative ( Barry Callebaut supports the GFSI objectives, namely to:

  1. Reduce food safety risks by delivering equivalence and convergence between effective food safety management systems
  2. Manage cost in the global food system by eliminating redundancy and improving operational efficiency
  3. Develop competencies and capacity-building in food safety to create consistent and effective global food systems
  4. Provide a unique international stakeholder platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and networking

To drive internal consistency and permit benchmarking, Barry Callebaut has selected the British Retail Consortium standard (BRC). Achievement of this standard provides assurance to customers and regulatory authorities and facilitates meeting new regulatory requirements, e.g. the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

BRC Global Standards help Barry Callebaut to deliver effective quality, food safety and supply chain management and as such we are part of a food network with more than 14,000 BRC certificated suppliers in more than 100 countries. Barry Callebaut, through its Group Head of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Jeff Banks, also supports the development and continuous improvement of the BRC standard through representation on the BRC Technical Advisory Board.
