Barry Callebaut acquires production capacity in Japan: Successful closing of transaction with Morinaga

Barry Callebaut today announced the closing of the transaction with Morinaga, one of Japan’s largest food companies with numerous established brands. The transaction involves the acquisition of cocoa and chocolate production equipment at a Morinaga facility in Amagasaki near Osaka, Japan. At the same time, the two companies entered into a 10-year supply agreement for 9,000 metric tonnes a year – doubling Barry Callebaut’s sales volumes in Japan.

Barry Callebaut closes acquisition of FPI cocoa factory in Philadelphia

Barry Callebaut announced today the closing of its acquisition of 100% of Food Processing International, Inc. (FPI) in the United States, as announced in October 2007. The acquisition includes the takeover of FPI’s factory in Eddystone near Philadelphia with a capacity for cocoa liquor production of 25,000 metric tons per year.
