Zurich/Switzerland, October 14, 2009 - An incomparable fashion show marked the opening of the big chocolate fair "Salon du Chocolat" 2009 to be held in Paris. For once, all the models on the catwalk strolled over the catwalk in lavish gowns ornated with masterpieces of chocolate - decorations, jewellery and accessories all made from chocolate. For Barry Callebaut, the world's leading chocolate company, it was young French fashion designer Aurélie Cherell who has created a long gown of gossamer silk organza adorned with hundreds of chocolate flowers and leaves. Particularly remarkable was the extravagant headdress made from chocolate which resembles the twigs of a blooming tree swaying in the wind. For Aurélie Cherell, fashion and chocolate is an interesting combination, and she sees several parallels: "Like fashion, chocolate conveys elegance. In addition, both fashion and chocolate are incredibly versatile."
Start of the Chocolate World Championship at the "Salon du Chocolat Professionnel" in Paris
This year's finals of the World Chocolate Masters - the Chocolate World Championship for the best chocolate artisans from around the globe initiated by Barry Callebaut - will be held during the 2nd edition of the "Salon du Chocolat Professionnel". The 19 finalists, each one of them National Chocolate Master in their country, will compete for the title "World Chocolate Master". Barry Callebaut has established the Wold Chocolate Masters to promote the best artisans around the globe and to support the best chocolate practices.
